About Passion Gratte-Ciel

Skyscrapers and architecture have been our passion for almost 30 years, which we wanted to share by putting this website online.

We like all that is gigantic and a little out of norm: the great towers, the tall trees, the large ships, the great cathedrals, large hydroelectric dams, drillings rigs, giant wind turbines, large mountains, large planes, large rockets and of course the big websites… in short all that is disproportionate!

All of these imposing structures, skyscraper are perhaps the ones that strike the most minds because of the frantic race to the gigantism it is the object of from their origin in the 1870s – 1890s to the last out of the ground reaching crazy heights!

Our website was launched in the fall 2010 and has been modernized to adapt to the changes in construction. Architects also face environmental and environmentally responsible issues; how do they now understand these issues when they design their towers and skyscrapers? Who are these eco-friendly architects? How do they integrate in their projects the notions of sustainable construction, bioclimatique construction, materials, trees, plants, hanging gardens which flourish throughout the world…?

Passion Gratte-Ciel is also a French-language encyclopedic website that allows architecture enthusiasts, students … etc, to find sources of informations: since 1991, we have identified 34,000 skyscrapers including more than 12,000 in China, printed more than 8000 images and have devoted nearly 1000 articles to them on Wikipedia.

Generally speaking, we write the texts ourselves; however, it may happen that we take back press articles or texts taken from the net, and in this case we quote our sources at the end of the article.
